Locating Lead Safe Housing

The Ohio Housing Locator, a project of the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, hosts the Ohio Lead-Safe/Free Registry, a listing of lead-safe or lead-free rental units in Ohio. Owners or agents of residential rental units may apply to have their units listed in the registry.
For properties built before 1978, both a visual inspection and lead clearance is required for units to be listed. The owner/manager of a pre-1978 rental unit must also be trained and certified in lead-safe renovation (EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule). Lead-safe properties in the Registry have not been cleared for the presence of lead service lines. Contact the Ohio Department of Health for more information.

HUD Lead Hazard Control Grants

Several Ohio grantees of HUD’s Lead Hazard Control Program have posted lists of properties that have been made lead-safe and passed clearance inspections through their programs.

Lead Safe Columbus. Lead Safe Columbus publishes a map that depicts properties that have passed a lead clearance evaluation in the Lead Safe Columbus Program. The units shown were deemed lead-safe based on a lead clearance evaluation in the month shown. This does not mean that the units listed are vacant or available at this time.  Please contact the owner of the property for rental information. To view the map, click here.
